FLORIAN ZABACH AND ROLAND OTT
When I was offered Florian Zabach from Sydney, who was on an Australian visit from the States, I jumped at the chance.
Once his dossier arrived he was described as a world renowned violinist with a solo entertainment stage show.
When I picked up Florian at the Perth airport to take him to the Channel 9 studios in Perth for the "In Perth Tonight Show" with Don Spencer, Bruce Allen and Tim Connor, I realised it was a different violinists that I had remembered from my Mothers Music Library.
Florian was amazed when I spoke to him in German and it was evident then that it was the wrong world renown violinist I had in mind and remembered.
We both agreed it was Helmut Zacharias that I was thinking of. Thank God Florian was just as accomplished and had a great show.
Florian was born in Chicago Apr 15, 1931 and became famous for his world wide hit of "The Hot Canary" and his association with the "Hot Canary Club".
I booked Florian into La Tenda Restaurant in Victoria Park owned by Vince Todaro, for 2 weeks.
We provided him with a top local musician orchestra backing and he stunned his audience nightly with his unbelievable control of his special instrument, which sounded as if he was making the violin talk.
The sheer brilliance of this accomplished performer and his act, I will never forget.
He build up an
audience in one week that had his second week booked out nightly, just by
sheer word of mouth.
